One of the major prevailing explanations of youth violence, high truancy and drop out rates, and behavioral issues, particularly in the inner city of Houston, Texas, is that many young people in poor and marginalized communities feel a strong sense of social isolation, despair, and even nihilism, that they have created an alternative system of positive identities and building self esteem.
The AFC Project P.E.A.C.E. program addresses youth with unhealthy behaviors who are at risk of violence, suspensions, truancy, dropping out, low educational attainment, and delinquency.Our goal is to provide these youths with opportunities to learn skills and gain experiences that contribute to more positive lifestyles and enhance their capacity to make healthier life choices.The Goal of Project P.E.A.C.E. is to provide:
